GDK 758: Threats and Promises

The seventeen flying swords revolving around Rose abruptly stopped moving. The swords overflowed with a bone-chilling aura and were all pointing straight at her. Rose felt numb from head to toe. Her thoughts were a mass of confusion.

Han Shuo was wielding the Demonslayer Edge with both of his hands, and wore a calloused expression on his face, as he slowly stepped towards Rose. With his eyes staring fixedly at Rose, Han Shuo asked in a calm voice, “Why should I trust you?”

Han Shuo’s Fifth Corps was in that moment short on power, and he had no member of highgod strength. An expert at Rose’s level would be highly sought after by all the powerful houses. At present, in the House of Han, Han Shuo was the only expert fighter with the strength of a highgod. If Rose were to surrender and serve him, the stature of the House of Han would rise tremendously.

Although it was true that he had a feud with Rose, when Han Shuo thought about it carefully, he realized that Rose had not inflicted any harm on those around him. So far, he had won every conflict between them.

Facing seventeen flying swords spewing out a bone-chilling aura, as well as Han Shuo’s menacing gaze, Rose became quite anxious. She hastily replied, “There isn’t much animosity between us ㅡ nothing that’s irreconcilable! There’s no need to kill me over some minor friction that happened on a low-level material plane!”

“I’m asking, why should I believe that you will serve me willingly?” queried Han Shuo in a cold voice. He raised the Demonslayer Edge and pointed it at Rose, hinting that he would butcher her if he didn’t hear what he wanted to hear.

Rose knew that she had to give Han Shuo a satisfactory answer or she would surely die!

Flashes of lights could be seen in her eyes as she rapidly turned over everything in her mind, trying to find a suitable answer. After a moment of hesitation, she replied, “I will swear my oath to you in the name of the Darkness Overgod!”

“I don’t believe in oaths!” shouted Han Shuo coldly. “Give me something more tangible!”

The expression on Rose’s beautiful human face became noticeably sharper. Then, she asked in a disheartened manner, “What do you want?”

Han Shuo kept silent for a moment before he answered, “Open up your soul. We will form a master-slave contract!”

Rose was shocked. For the master-slave contract to form, one party must completely surrender their soul to the other party. After the master-slave contract was complete, the master could end the slave’s life with a single thought. Once bound by the contract, Rose would be unable to play any tricks on her master.

“Choose! Die or form a master-slave contract with me by surrendering your divine soul!” Han Shuo knew that Rose wasn’t sincere about surrendering to him. His impatience showed on his face. In his hands Demonslayer Edge and the flying swords started to glitter brightly as they gradually moved inwards, towards Rose.

As the swords inched closer and closer to Rose the fear she felt showed on her face, becoming more and more pronounced. Rose even felt as though the space around her had become frozen. The seventeen flying swords were releasing some kind of bizarre energy that was slowly cutting off her escape route.

A highgod usually had their own unique method of escaping during an emergency. Naturally, its use would come at a high cost. The use of such a life-saving measure might severely wound the user’s body or possibly consume an exceptional, invaluable, highgod weapon. Han Shuo believed that Rose had this kind of emergency escape method.

The fact that Rose was so hesitant to deploy her escape method could only mean that using it would cause her tremendous harm. As Han Shuo approached step by step, he secretly controlled the seventeen flying swords as they released an imprisoning energy. The region surrounded by the seventeen flying swords was quickly filled with chaotic energy, cutting off any possibility of Rose escaping.

When Rose sensed the bizarre fluctuations of the space around her, she felt as though she had been hoisted by her own petard. Her plan had been to pretend to surrender, then find an opportunity to escape. However, she’d failed to anticipate that Han Shuo could be so treacherous as to seize all hope of escaping.

“Rose, don’t waste anymore of my time. No matter what tricks you have up your sleeves, they’re now all useless!” Han Shuo’s cold and indifferent voice sounded, “While you were hesitating, trying to buy time, I sealed off every last exit within your reach. Now, you have just two choices: You can perish or you can form a master-slave contract by surrendering your soul to me!”

As Rose listened to Han Shuo’s words, she was filled with grief but remained tearless. Her mind had been thrown into a state of panic when she sensed the cold killing intent coming from Han Shuo.

She was unwilling to be anyone’s slave. She knew that once the master-slave contract was formed, she would lose her freedom for the rest of her life. She would be reduced to a tool in the hands of Han Shuo. However, if she didn’t surrender, she would lose her life immediately. Rose was torn between the two equally unfavourable choices presented to her.

Han Shuo, staring coldly at Rose, slowly moved the Demonslayer Edge towards Rose in a threatening manner as he shouted, “Do you really want to die?”

His shout was deafening. Han Shuo had, in fact, utilized the Demonic Siren, one of his unique demonic techniques. His voice, harboring a mysterious hypnotic energy, surged into Rose’s mind, affecting her soul. If it had been utilized at any other moment the Demonic Siren would not have been effective on Rose. But Rose was in a rattled and flustered state of mind. The Demonic Siren worked like a charm.

The indecisive Rose was instantly affected by the hypnotic power of the Demonic Siren. Immediately, she shrieked, “I surrender!”

After finishing those words, Rose surrendered her divine soul, giving up all control to Han Shuo. Without the slightest resistance, Han Shuo’s consciousness was able to enter deep into her soul and tie the two together in the most unfair type of contract in Elysium.

Flashes of dark radiance glistened in Rose’s eyes as the two stared at each other, eye to eye. A moment later, the process was complete. An imprint had formed on Rose’s divine soul. It was connected to Han Shuo’s consciousness. Han Shuo now had the ability to end her life at the thought of it.

“I, I…” Rose sensed that something was wrong as soon as the master-slave contract was formed. She looked at Han Shuo with a frightened face and squalled, “What, what have you done to me?!”

Han Shuo shrugged. Then, with a big smile on his face, he answered, “I’ve formed a master-slave contract with you, of course!” He withdrew the Demonslayer Edge and the seventeen flying swords to show that he no longer felt any hostility towards Rose.

“Ahhhh!!!” Rose screamed in pain. She started waving her sharp claws violently about. It seemed that she was having trouble accepting this fact.

Han Shuo stood by as a deranged Rose cut down all the towering trees on the mountain. Her wild clawing even sent dirt and rocks flying. By the end of her rampage, the large area was rendered a desolate wasteland.

Han Shuo merely watched her violent actions, smiling the entire time. After all, the master-slave contract had been formed and there was nothing Rose could do to reverse it. From that point onwards, she was a loyal servant of the House of Han. It would be strange if Han Shuo didn’t feel happy about getting a highgod servant.

After running amok for some time, Rose gradually calmed down. Under Han Shuo’s smiling gaze, her enormous spider body eventually shrank, and her sharp claws were slowly drawn back into her body. Her head and face, however, remained the same.

A few moments later, Spider Goddess Rose had transformed into a young woman with a pair of long, lissom legs. Her monstrous spider body had transformed into a curvaceous feminine body. This, when combined with her beautiful face, and the exotic, seductive aura she gave off, made her hopelessly attractive.

She wore a dark, skin-tight gown with mysterious patterns on it that further highlighted the flawless curves of her body. As if she was not eye-catching enough, she had a full head of long, thick, snow-white hair that shone with the luster of spun silk.

Han Shuo had trouble associating the beauty standing proudly before him with the enormous human-faced spider he had been looking at a few moments ago.

“What, what did you do to me?” Rose asked, while glaring at Han Shuo resentfully, with eyes just as icy cold as before the contract.

“Er… I bound your soul to a master-slave contract,” Han Shuo’s mind was in a daze. After quickly shaking his head to wake himself up, he remarked, “Wow, I almost didn’t recognize you!”

“No, before you formed the master-slave contract!” said Rose in a cold voice, as she continued to glare resentfully at Han Shuo. “You must have done something to me! Otherwise, there’s no way I would have accepted a master-slave contract so easily. Right before the contract was formed, I had an intense feeling that something was amiss!”

Highgods were, after all, highgods. Even if their mind was in a chaotic state, they were still able to remain extremely vigilant. If Rose’s mind hadn’t been in such a disrupted state, the Demonic Siren technique wouldn’t have worked on her. After regaining her senses, she immediately realized that something was wrong. She sensed that Han Shuo had used some kind of dirty trick on her.

“First of all, you will address me as Master!” reminded Han Shuo coldly. Then, he added, “Now that the master-slave contract has been formed, you’re my slave and I’m your master. So, you better learn your place!”

A master-slave contract didn’t just allow the master to kill the slave at will, it also formed a bizarre connection between the two parties. Rose stared at Han Shuo in an aggrieved manner, and Han Shuo stared back at her with cold eyes. As Han Shuo was now her master, Rose soon had to admit defeat. Although unwilling, in the end, in a low voice, she called out, “Master.”

“Good!” said Han Shuo as he nodded. “A slave should not question their master. Let’s go. We’re leaving Demon Mountain. From today onwards, you, Rose, are no longer a Spider Goddess, but a humble servant of my House of Han. It would be best if you forget your old identity as soon as possible.”

Rose stared at Han Shuo with her bright, cold eyes, while her sexy, full lips formed a slight pout. It appeared that she had yet to come to terms with her new identity. Naturally arrogant, she instinctively loathed her new, lowly appellation.

Throughout the endless years that she had been alive, she had always been a proud creature, and firmly stood her ground. Even when faced with highgods stronger than herself, she had never suffered so much humiliation. But now, she had been cast down from her high throne, and became a slave to a puny god from a low-level, material plane she had previously deemed insignificant. She couldn’t feel more sullen as she thought about it.

Han Shuo was close enough to clearly see the shifting emotions on Rose’s face. He knew that it was impossible to force a highgod, like Rose, to serve him faithfully within such a short period of time. But fortunately for him, the master-slave contract had been formed, so he had plenty of time. Therefore, he wasn’t too concerned about it.

“Oh, right. I’m very curious about your escape technique. If I hadn’t confined you within a restricted space, how would you have escaped?” asked Han Shuo as he turned his head towards Rose. She was following close behind him as they headed towards Fort Lasberg.

Rose suddenly turned coy. She avoided Han Shuo’s eyes and asked in a low, sexy voice, “Can I refuse to answer that?”

“You know you don’t have a choice!” replied Han Shuo.

She angrily glared at Han Shuo before she explained, “I can use my hair to escape, but doing so would cause my divine energy to regress. That would cause all of my hair to fall out ㅡ I would go bald!”

Han Shuo was caught between laughter and tears. “Are you more afraid of losing your divine energy or your hair?”

“My hair, of course!” replied Rose immediately. She glared at Han Shuo coldly, then added, “If not for the fact that I would look hideously ugly without hair, how could I have been restrained by you and reduced to this state!”

Indeed, a woman was still a woman! Even females of other races seem to be bound by the same, universal tendencies, thought Han Shuo as he shook his head. Once again, he was caught between laughter and tears. Rose was so terrified of losing her hair that she had hesitated for far too long, losing her chance to escape. How baffling!

However, it was worth taking note of the fact that, in addition to her long legs, her long, silken hair was a treat to behold. Her long, smooth, lustrous, snow-white hair, combined with her coquettish face, and beautiful legs, made her incredibly seductive.

“Where are you taking me?” asked Rose as she followed behind Han Shuo.

“Fort Lasberg,” replied Han Shuo calmly.

“Can I refuse?” Rose hesitated, then added in a soft voice, “I don’t like places with lots of people.”

“You must come with me,” replied Han Shuo with a faint smile. “Preferences can change. From now on, you must try to get used to it. Just follow me, do whatever I tell you to do, and don’t complain. If I’m happy with your service, I will nullify our master-slave contract after a hundred years.”

At first, Rose had been reluctant and unwilling to go with him, but when she heard that Han Shuo was willing to terminate the contract after a hundred years, her eyes lit up. Excitedly, she asked, “Is that a promise? Will you really nullify our master-slave contract after a hundred years?”

For a god, like Rose, a hundred years was no time at all. She grew excited when she heard that regaining her freedom might not be that far away.

Han Shuo smiled and nodded, then said, “That depends on how well you serve me. If your service satisfies me for the next hundred years, I will undoubtedly keep my promise to you.”

“Alright then, I will follow you, even to places where there are lots of people. I only hope that you stay faithful to your promise!” Rose agreed straightforwardly.

“Good. That’s the spirit. Don’t worry, I will return your freedom to you after a hundred years!” assured Han Shuo solemnly. While a hundred years was a short time for Rose, it was more than enough time to achieve many of the things Han Shuo wanted to do. Besides, Rose might decide to stay on as a member of the House of Han after she regained her freedom.
